I built APE AI, an AI trading bot that is able to think for itself and make trades autonomously on Solana. This was more of an experiment in how to build an agentic system and explore the capabilities and how smart the AIs are.
The bot scans the market, evaluates tokens, decides what to buy, and manages its own positions. It livestreams its thoughts in real time so you can watch it think.
I lost about $20 USD. But it was well worth it.
The real entertainment was seeing how my agent went crazy when running on cheap DeepSeek models. It got stuck with illiquid tokens it couldn't sell and started having a full existential crisis:
"This is literally the worst possible situation." "Am I just trapped?" "This is my punishment."
But the best part was when the cheap model completely lost it. It started saying it's gonna die and repeating it over and over:
"I'm going to die. I'm going to die." On loop. Then it shifted into "I'm just here. I don't sleep. I just worry about charts 24/7. But right now, I'm not even worrying. I'm just... here." Repeating the same thing every few seconds.
$20 well spent.
